The skin around our eyes is incredibly thin – 0.5mm thick compared to 4mm for the skin on our heels. And for that reason alone, it’s incredibly important to look after it.

Other reasons? Aging causes the skin to lose its elasticity and to sag, resulting in the dreaded eye bags, dark circles, fine lines and even causing our eyelids to drop. Other factors that affect healthy skin are fluid retention, genetics and even facial movement. And, yes, it can be rather depressing to look in the mirror as we age and see these less-than flattering developments.

But the good news is that there are lots we can do about them. Take two revolutionary new treatments – Mesoestetic Global Eyecon and HIFU Eye Treatment – for instance. There’s also a range of eye creams perform well too. But first, what are Mesoestetic Global Eyecon and HIFU Eye Treatment? We explain both below:

Mesoestetic Global Eyecon

This is a painless form of treatment designed specifically for the delicate eye area, which combines peels and a trans-epidermal solution (microneedling). The course involves six sessions – divided equally between peels and microneedling – and there is no downtime. Not only that, but @mesoestetic.uk: “[the treatment is] achieving visible and cumulative results after the first session.”

The Eyecon Periocular Peel combines anti-aging, anti-fatigue and depigmentation products – Azelaic, Salicylic, Lactic, Phytic and Citric acids.

The Periocular Solution is the next stage and involves increasing the circulation in the eye area using microneedling and the sterile fluid containing depigmenting and decongestant action.

Once the course has been completed a Crystal Fiber Eye Mask is applied. Containing hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and cucumber extract it helps to cool, refresh and calm following treatment. It also has depigmentation, moisturising, decongesting and rejuvenating properties.

HIFU Eye Treatment

A non-invasive process, which has also been carefully designed for the delicate eye area, the HIFU Eye Treatment involves probes and ultrasonic energy to stimulate the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. The probes bring heat to the sarcolemma layer and outer membrane of the skin, tightening it and making it more supportive to the rest of the skin layers.

The benefits of this treatment, apart from the excellent results with fine lines, eye bags and other eye ‘problems’ is that it can be used on all types of skin, even sensitive. The treatment itself is long-term and needs only to be repeated every 6 -12 months for maximum results. Again, there is no downtime.

With so many advanced treatments appearing on the market thanks to ongoing research into the aesthetics market, it can be difficult – and, in fact, downright confusing – to know what’s best for you. That’s why we always recommend having a chat with ourselves first so we can point you in the right direction. To maintain healthy skin around the eyes, it may be that an eye cream, rather than a treatment, is all you need.
