All You Need To Know About Laser Hair Removal

At Vale Laser Clinic we’re proud to be experts in laser hair removal. We’ve even been awarded the Sunday Times best for hair removal so you can be sure we know all there is to know about getting rid of your unwanted hair. If you’re researching laser hair removal you’re not alone. This safe, effective method of hair removal is growing in popularity. It’s virtually pain free and permanently reduces growth so if you dream of removing unwanted hair for good then read on.

We get asked many questions regarding the process, so we have put together this helpful guide covering everything you need to know about our laser hair removal service.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

One of the main benefits and attractions of laser hair removal is that the hair treated is gone forever. The light energy destroys the base of the hair follicle preventing regrowth.

A short burst of light energy is delivered onto the skin by a laser or IPL (Intense Pulse Light). The melanin (colour pigment) absorbs this energy and turns it into heat. This heat destroys the germination centre in the hair follicle preventing regrowth.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Hair grows in cycles. Laser hair removal only works if the targeted hair is in its growth cycle. It is for this reason that we recommend several sessions to achieve the desired results of smooth skin with no regrowth. We recommend a course of 6 to 8 sessions which we will discuss in our free consultation.

How Long Does A Treatment Take?

It can be as quick as ten minutes for a smaller area. Up to an hour for a larger area. You will be advised of this in your free consultation.

Does It Hurt?

At most you will experience mild discomfort. We use an effective skin cooler to ensure that the warm pulses of light from the laser are comfortable for you.

Do I Need To Let My Hair Grow Before Treatment?

No, we don’t need the hair above the skin surface so you can shave or trim as often as you like. You will be asked to cut or shave the area prior to treatment. Never wax, thread or pluck as this will remove the hair from the follicle.

Can Any Colour Hair Be Treated?

Dark hair on light skin sees the best results due to the contrasting melanin. We do however offer treatments that are effective on darker skin tones and fairer hair and have specific technology within our IPL specifically for this. Due to the lack of melanin white or grey hairs don’t respond to laser hair removal.

Are There Side Effects?

As long as your treatment is conducted by trained professionals using the correct, up to date equipment, side effects will be minimal. The area that has been treated may feel a little warm for a while afterwards. This can be managed with aloe vera cream or gel. It is also advised to avoid perfume, deodorant and makeup for at least 48 hours after treatment. Protecting your treated skin from the sun is essential, sun block should be worn for at least 6 weeks.

Is It Suitable For Men And Women?

Our laser hair removal treatments are suitable for both men and women.

What Areas Do You Treat?

We offer a full range of treatments for any unwanted hair, even evasive hair removal . Click here for our full price list.

Ladies: Chin, top lip and chin, lower face, under arms, lower arm, basic bikini, extended bikini, full bikini, half legs, full leg with basic bikini.

Men: Between brows, earlobes, hands and fingers, full beard, upper back, chest, full back.

You can book a course of treatments where you pay for 7 and get 1 free.

Or we offer a 20% discount on a second area when treatments are carried out at the same time. The discount will be applied to the lower cost area.

Are There Any Things That May Affect The Treatment?

Having a suntan, either real or fake can affect the treatment. This is due to the melanin levels in your skin being raised. The laser treatment will be attracted to the skin rather than the hair. You can not have a tan at all at the time of treatment

How Do I Book?

If you are ready to say goodbye to unwanted hair for good, simply go to our website to book.

We will arrange a free consultation which will take around 45 minutes. Your treatment plan will be discussed and you will be given a price for your treatment plan. Our laser hair removal experts will offer you any advice and answer any questions you may have.

We will do a hair removal test patch to ensure that you won’t have a reaction to the treatment and we can book your first full session for the following week.

We are an independent business and pride ourselves on offering you impeccable service with a personal touch. We want you to feel comfortable and at ease. Feel free to get in touch with any questions you have.

The Benefits of Active Vitamin A in Skin Care

It is commonly known that vitamin A has numerous health benefits. Vitamin A is an essential component for skin health and in the form of retinoids can be applied topically to the skin which absorbs the goodness. It is for this reason that many skincare products contain active vitamin A retinoids.

Benefits of Retinol

Retinol stimulates the production of new skin cells preventing skin problems like premature aging, acne and severe dryness. It is best that products containing vitamin A are used as part of your daily skincare routine for skin that glows. The investment and technology in skin care products is always evolving. It is from this evolution that active ingredients are used in skin care to achieve the best results.

Specialist Skin Care Products

At Vale Laser Clinic we are authorised stockists of Environ Skin Care products as well as the popular professional skin care range Alumier . We are advocates of a long term skin health regime rather than a quick fix. Both brands offer superior care for your skin, meaning that you see the benefits of healthy, brighter, reinvigorated younger looking skin.

In order to deliver an adequate amount of vitamin A to your skin it is important that active ingredients are used in your skin care products. Over the counter moisturisers, creams, serums and oils will contain vitamin A, however it is the scientifically proven active ingredients found in Environ Skin Care and Alumier products that set them apart from their counterparts that are available to purchase anywhere.

Skin Consultation For Optimum Results

The products we use are only available from authorised salons who are experienced in skin care. It is essential that you undergo a skin consultation with our Environ and Alumier experts in order to advise you on the most suitable product for your skin type. This consultation can be taken online. Once you have had an initial skin consultation you can reorder your products via our website.

Why Buy Environ Skin Care And Alumier Products From Vale Laser Clinic?

Following your skin consultation our experts will analyse your skin, any areas you would like to address and advise you on an effective course of action. We will formulate a skin care regime including the best products for your skin, face and body. Our family run business is here to make you feel your best. We offer skin advice and guidance based upon your individual skin care needs. With our personal touch you will feel comfortable and trust that we will help you to achieve the best skin. Melasma and How To Treat It

Concerned about discoloured blotches appearing on your skin? You might be experiencing melasma – an annoying but harmless skin condition.

What is melasma?

Melasma is characterised by brown or blue-grey patches appearing on your skin. It’s a harmless condition, but one that can damage our self-confidence. This is especially the case because it commonly affects the face, including the upper lip – although it can occur anywhere on the body.

It’s not at all an indication that you are practising poor skin care – melasma can just be one of those pesky things that happen.

Maybe you searched the internet for ‘skin treatment for blotches’ to get to this page, or perhaps you have already heard the term melasma.

Either way, we know that many people want to seek out melasma treatment – and our expert team is here to help.

Why does melasma occur?

Melasma can appear randomly throughout one’s life, though certain factors make it more likely.

Some good skin advice, in general, is to wear SPF year-round, as this can prevent melasma from appearing. Fair-skinned people are more likely to experience melasma, and many people find that it improves during winter and worsens during the summer months. However, sun exposure isn’t the only reason you might have melasma.

Melasma is often called the mask of pregnancy – it’s estimated that between 15 to 50% of pregnant women experience it. It can be linked to hormones, and those who are taking oral contraceptives or additional hormones can be at increased risk of developing it.

In fact, just being a woman increases your chances: around 90% of melasma cases are in women. Both men and women can experience melasma though, and there’s a genetic element at play too. There’s no shame in it – or in seeking treatment – but rest assured that it’s a harmless condition.

If you’re not sure whether you have melasma or something more serious, it’s best to check in with a GP or dermatologist.

What are the treatment options for melasma?

Knowing how to treat melasma can be confusing – and the condition itself can be really hard on your self-confidence.

Luckily, there are ways to address the issue, and our expert team knows exactly how to treat melasma.

Melasma treatment should occur during the winter months, as sun exposure can worsen the condition and many treatments can affect the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight.

We offer different types of treatment for melasma: chemical peels, which gently remove the dead skin cells on the top layer of your skin, and Mesoestetics treatments. These can be applied in the clinic or used at home for ongoing treatment options. It might be that your skin needs a combination of both to achieve the best results.

If you want to know more about treating melasma, why not book yourself in for a free melasma consultation with one of our team members? We’ll be able to assess your skin and suggest the appropriate treatment method. If that involves home care, we will create a bespoke skincare plan for you to follow that’s designed to optimise your results.

Our experienced team are passionate about skin health and always have your best interests at heart, so won’t recommend any treatments if they don’t think they’ll work.

Introducing the Lynton Lasers Focus RF Machine

Focus Dual HIFU RFM

At Vale Laser, we want to offer the best service we possibly can. That’s why our team is highly skilled and trained in all our procedures, and why we’re happy to offer free consultations to find the right treatment for you – both online and in the clinic.

Part of our dedication to quality treatments means working with the best equipment – which is why we’re so excited to announce that we’ve invested in a Lynton Lasers Focus Dual.

What is a Lynton Lasers Focus Dual?

Lynton Lasers are the UK’s number one Laser and IPL manufacturer and are trusted in the cosmetics industry to produce high-quality equipment. The machine we’ve opted for – the Focus Dual – is so named because it specialises in two of the most up-to-date technologies in the industry: RF Microneedling and HIFU.

RF Microneedling uses Radio Frequency waves for a myriad of benefits. It can help to tighten the appearance of skin, reduce fine lines, target acne scarring and stretch marks, and leave skin looking more radiant.

HIFU uses a different technology – High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound – and has been called a non-invasive alternative to a facelift. It targets the same layer of skin that a surgeon would work on, and leaves you with smoother, lifted skin.

Together, these technologies mean that the Focus Dual can target every layer of the skin. They can be used separately or in tandem, and the adjustable settings mean that our team can create a truly tailored treatment for your skin – and achieve just the results you’re looking for.

The procedures are non-invasive and come with minimum discomfort. The Focus Dual uses Safety Assist Transducers (SAT) to reduce the inflammation and redness that can typically occur after similar treatments, and ultra-fine microneedles to reduce skin irritation.

What treatments can the Lynton Laser Focus Dual be used for?

Because it’s so adaptable, the Focus Dual can be used for many treatments, from jawline sculpting and double chin reduction to non-surgical facelifts and acne scar treatments.

There are some features that set it apart from the crowd, which is why we chose it for our clinic.

The HIFU settings can be used to target fat cells without harming the surrounding tissue, meaning it can be used for body contouring. The adipose tissue is broken down and flushed from your body in a natural detoxification process, whilst skin becomes firmer.

We’re also excited about using it to reduce eye bags and lift eyebrows: the unique vacuum technology means that the microneedles are particularly safe for delicate body parts like the eye area.

Just in need of a little pick-me-up? The Focus Dual’s skin firming abilities will have you walking out of the clinic glowing.

Sounds good! How do I book?

We’re so glad that you’re as excited about the Focus Dual’s features as we are!

If you’re not sure what you need, why not book a free consultation with one of our team members? Whether you’re after a little skin tightening or a more targeted treatment, our expert team is on hand to help you get the results you want.

Already know what you’re after? Head to our site to book yourself in. We look forward to seeing you!

Guide to Laser Tattoo Removal Aftercare

Remember when you first got your tattoo and were told to look after the area in a certain way? Well, getting laser tattoo removal affects the skin in a similar way – so you need to adhere to a proper aftercare routine after each session.

This will ensure your skin heals properly – and can actually speed up the removal process.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

Laser tattoo removal works by pulsing light energy into your skin which is then absorbed by the tattoo ink. As the ink particles heat up, they shatter and disperse – leaving your tattoo looking a little paler after each treatment.

Because it focuses on light therapy, laser tattoo removal can make your skin very sensitive to sunlight. Remember to wear an SPF treatment – preferably 30+ – any time you’re outdoors and the area is exposed. Limit sun exposure as much as possible for about a month both before and after treatment and we’re unable to treat sun exposed skin.

Skincare immediately post-treatment

So you’ve had your first laser tattoo removal session and your skin is feeling a little sore. Top tip? Keep it covered with a sterilized gauze bandage. Your therapist may put the first one of these on, alongside some aloe vera gel to ensure the area stays infection-free.

For around three days, keep the area bandaged – even if it means reapplying some ointment and gauze yourself.

After that, you can remove the bandage if you’d prefer – but try to keep the area clean and dry and avoid it rubbing against any tight clothing.

Occlusive moisturisers – ones that form a barrier layer over your skin – like Vaseline and Aquaphor can help to soothe the area at this stage. However, we’d recommend using aloe vera to soothe and hydrate the skin.

Vitamin E ointment can also be useful, as it can encourage cell rejuvenation and speed skin healing.

You might experience some scabbing or blistering, which can be irritating. However, don’t pick at the skin – we’re trying to maintain healthy skin, and picking at scabs and blisters just opens the skin up to bacterial entry.

Can you shower after laser tattoo removal?

Showering isn’t advised for the first few days after laser tattoo removal. Once you’ve removed your bandage after three days, you can shower.

Even then, try not to use high-pressure water or water that’s too hot, as your skin is likely to still be sensitive.

Do try to avoid soaking the skin in any way – including baths, hot tubs, and pools – for around two weeks, or until the area is fully healed.

Holistic aftercare

Now you know how to look after your skin using topical measures, and what not to do. But there are plenty of ways in which we can support our immune systems and aid the recovery process to maintain healthy skin.

Staying hydrated is a great way to help your body to heal – water helps to carry oxygen to your body’s cells through your bloodstream. It also helps to flush toxins out of your body, so could help you avoid an infection.

Taking probiotics or a multivitamin can give your immune system a boost, letting your laser site heal more quickly and with fewer chances of infection.

Exercising – once the area is healed – can boost your blood flow and speed up the tattoo removal process.

Of course, there are things we do that can cause our immune systems to falter as well.

Avoid things that cause dehydration – including alcohol and caffeine. Alcohol is particularly detrimental to your immune system and can prevent it from functioning at its best.

Smoking is another activity that’s best avoided if possible. Because smoking is known to inhibit wound healing, it can actually elongate the laser tattoo removal process – meaning you might have to have a few more sessions.
