Get ready to look your best for spring by starting your IlumiFacial treatment now.

As well as treating unsightly red veins and pigmentation difficulties, the painless treatment will give you a lovely glow and flawless complexion just in time for better weather and being outdoors more. This impressive anti-ageing treatment – which stimulates collagen and elastin to give firmer skin – can be used on the face, hands, neck and chest area.

@pro_beauty: “Skin cells that are energised function better and can regenerate up to 200 times faster, which in turn leads to faster skin healing and a more youthful, radiant complexion.”

How does IPL work?

IPL is similar to laser treatment but works on several layers of the skin at once, administering a broad-spectrum light in a pulsed fashion. The light becomes heat after it is absorbed by your skin, exfoliating the body’s cells and stimulating the fibroblast cells beneath the skin’s surface. This, in turn, leads to the production of new skin-firming collagen.

You should see improvements in the tone and firmness of your skin within one week, with it starting to glow too. The more treatments you receive, the better your skin will look. Three up to a maximum of five treatments are enough for the best results.

Does IPL hurt?

You will probably feel warming where the pulse therapy is directed, but because we use a cooler at the same time, this should be minimal, more of a mild discomfort than pain. We always do a patch test before administering the treatment to be sure there won’t be any adverse reactions.

IPL is the type of treatment it’s possible to receive during your lunch hour at work. Hot showers and baths should be avoided for one day afterwards, and perfume for two days. You should also cover up in the sun for a fortnight after treatment (another reason why it’s best to get it in the winter).

IPL for specific conditions

  • Red veins. Rosacea, red spots and thread veins can all be eliminated, and the skin can be improved, with IPL. Haemoglobin in your blood absorbs the heat from the IPL and destroys the veins or blemishes.
  • Pigmentation. Age spots, liver spots and port wine stains are caused by UV light damage which has, in turn, caused the sun to produce very high levels of melanin. The IPL causes the melanin to coagulate, and the skin looks more radiant within a few days.
  • Dull and blemished skin. The pulse treatment warms up the fibroblast cells in the skin. This stimulates elastin and collagen, making your skin glow and firm up. Speeding up the cell rejuvenation process allows the skin to deal with problems such as enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, and even scarring from acne.

Our Intense Pulse Light (IPL) technology skin rejuvenation treatment can take up to three sessions to get maximum results. Sessions are usually booked every four weeks, giving your skin time to benefit from the previous treatment.

Having said that, veins and small lesions can be radically improved after just one dose of our signature pulse and peel treatment.
